World Famous Produces Branded DVD for Nordstrom

Fall Out Boy s Pete Wentz Featured on Disc Promoting New Clothing Line and Available Through BP.

May 19, 2008 -- DMN Newswire--2008-5-19--

World Famous was recently contracted by Nordstrom to produce a unique, branded-entertainment DVD supporting the launch of a new fashion collection available through its BP. label and designed in collaboration with musician Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy.

The Seattle editorial and design studio was involved in the project from inception through delivery. It assisted in the development of the concept, and handled virtually every aspect of the production and post production processes, including film and HD video shoots, interviews, design, animation production, editorial and finishing. The result is a hip, spirited and highly engaging 25-minute video mixing interviews, animation and behind-the-scenes footage, and offering a surprisingly thoughtful portrait of Wentz s evolution from rock star into fashion designer.

The DVD has been packaged with a CD of new music from Wentz s record label and is available for purchase through Nordstrom stores and the company s website. Clips will also run on video screens in the BP. section of stores and on a special BP. MySpace page.

For World Famous the project was an opportunity to apply its creative chops to a long-form piece with real storytelling depth. It was a given that our goal was to sell the clothes, said World Famous co-founder Tony Fulgham, who directed the DVD, but in order to give teen consumers a reason to buy the DVD, we had to deliver an experience that they couldn t get from MTV or You Tube.

World Famous solution was to get inside Wentz s head and to show what drives his world. We explain who he is, what he does, what he s into and why designing clothes for teenage girls was something that he was drawn to, observed World Famous co-founder Alan Nay. And it all seamlessly transitions to a cross-promotion for BP.

The thing that I wanted to get across was Pete s attitude toward the creative process, added Fulgham. We talked a lot about being creative, about why he is an artist and what he does as an artist. We talked about his record label, his clothing line, writing lyrics and the clothing aspect just flipped in with all that other stuff.

World Famous spent a day filming behind-the-scenes footage of a photo shoot for the new clothing line. They then spent two more days at Wentz s home in Los Angeles recording interviews with him as well as material of the musician working with the Nordstrom design team and reviewing the finished clothes.

The behind-the-scenes material was mostly shot on Super 8mm film, giving those scenes a gritty texture that Fulgham believes makes it look more real and immediate. Super 8 is really compact and easy to use, he said. You can shoot film in someone s face and they almost don t know that you re there.

An intensive, time sensitive post production effort ensued at World Famous facility in Seattle. That included editing the video as well as designing and producing the imaginative animated sequences that punctuate the video. The distressed, heavily textured look of those elements were inspired by designs Wentz and BP. had come up with for tee shirts in the new collection, and the aggressive way they are animated adds another level of edginess and energy to the piece.

The visual intensity of the DVD is also, in part, a result of the project s short deadline, according to Nay. There was so little time we couldn t second guess anything, he said, and our first instinct turned out to be right most of the time.

World Famous rare ability to take a project from the concept stage through final delivery results in a very efficient production, according to Fulgham. It also yields a strong and unified creative vision. Nordstrom essentially presented us with a blank slate, he said. So, it was a great opportunity for us to concept it, write it, shoot it, do the edit, do the design and animation "to put it all together in one entertaining package.

World Famous is located at 911 E. Pike Street, #325, Seattle, Washington 98122. For more information, call (206) 328-3881 or visit www.worldfamousinc.com.

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
